| Howdy troops! Did any one see the Amir Khan fight last night? The pomp and circumstance that the media have attached to his fights is beyond him, beyond his level of experience, and well and truly beyond the fodder that pose (I actually mean POSE) as opponents. The commentary team did everything in their power to proclaim Khan as British, as a British Champion and a contender for the WBO Title. They completely overcooked the flag waving , in their desperation to proclaim Khan as British. I would not have batted an eyelid if they had proclaimed that the war in Europe was over and Germany is suing for peace. Boxing is a crooked game and no one is going to say any different, clearly, Khan is a political pawn. The government may feel the need to show a British Muslim male in as positive a light as possible while the media fawn over him! Fair enough! But surely one could be found that could at least fight never mind Box! There is no progression in performance from fight to fight, by round 3 Khan looked out of ideas and out of his depth, it’s just as well that his opponent looked as though he couldn’t start a fight never mind take part in one. Khans own style is one that is still to be developed, lacking technique ,timing and stamina, yes he has fast hands but if you can let him do his thing until round 3 then press him, you’ll find that he is already gassed, running on empty, for a young man in a game like boxing that is a worry. The referee let the fight run on when the opposing boxer could no longer defend himself ( due to fatigue), and yet Khan was still unable to knock him down, eventually he did though, and resorted to hitting his man when he was down! Desperate? Yes! A boy amongst men I’m afraid! I wonder how long Frank Warren will put up with this charade; he looked shell shocked during the post fight interview and stepped away from the plate when asked if Khan was ready for the big one. The only big one that I see looming for Amir Khan is that of humiliation at the hands of an opponent whom can either fight or Box or even worse do both. To summarize. Political pawn + crooked game= depressed boxing fan! Where did I put my Hagler Hearns DVD…………? | |

| I haven't watched the fight yet, but I've sky+ it to watch later. UFC takes priority. I plan to win some money on Khan this year. I've backed him to win sports personality of the year for £20 at 20/1 I don't expect him to win, but I expect the odds to drop to about 4/1 at which point I'll lay the bet off and Guarantee £100- £200 christmas bonus, who ever wins. Lovely. As to his ability, he looks alright. I'm not a huge boxing fan compared to MMA but his previous fight was the first 12 round fight I've enjoyed for a long time. I don't know if he's a world beater, but he's definitely better than the average. Finally, you're problem with his ethnicity, I find uncomfortable. He was born and raised in Bolton and he has a British passport. The god he believes in has nothing to do with his nationality. I'm a white British atheist and am happy to accept him as British. Perhaps if you were watching a fighter with the same ability but he was a white Church of England boy it would be more entertaining to you. I don't see where the government come into it either really. I don't want an argument about it. I think we disagree about a few issues but I hope we can keep the discussion civil. | |

| woah, I'm not attacking anyones religion. My point is his religion or nationality shouldn't have any baring on his or my opinion of Khan as a fighter. | |
