has anyone seen the film "adulthood" yet?

Sounds like the UK is starting to have the same problems that exist in the majority of the US's inner cities.

Anyone remember a little while ago when I was saying how I was getting hassle from groups of lads, well it's these types of lads that it is always from. Lads who are willing to stab anyone for a tenner so they can buy crap weed.

The question is, how do we solve the problem? Is it too late to sort it all out? I've spoken to a few people about it, and some say that the answer is by reporting them to the police whenever and incident happens, others say fight back and give them what they are giving out.

zero tolerance is the answer strip them every right and privilege and make them earn them back the hard way they want to waste there lifes by whatever means fair enough .but soon as involves or disrupts anybody elses then zero tolerance should be used

Agree with the above, there should be zero tolerance of such problems. If there was a fear of punishment there would be far less crime. There is no fear of the law at all. Being from a police dog background, I spoke with a Danish Police Dog Handler about his experiences. He said one shift he approached a gang who were drinking in the street. As he left the scene they threw a bottle at his van. He stopped the van and let the dog out. Dont know if any of you know of or have seen a pumped up, pissed of Malinois (belgian breed used for police work).....NOT GOOD!! And so the dog proceeded to taked them down one by one. Resultant injuries included torn/ripped hamstrings, calves, triceps, biceps, pecs, forearms and upper backs. Job done. When I asked what was the general reaponse to your reaction, he replied nobody complained as he did the job and gang issues in the area have gone down. The law should be THE LAW. There should be more severe punishment. When I have asked my grandparents would you have ever told a policeman to fuck off? They look at me in disgust and laugh. Why.....because the officer would smack the living daylights out of you....these days...not so. The level of crime and the "methods" have gone up, modernised e.g. drugs, guns, fast cars, computers, extreme violence....and the police's response has gone in the opposite direction. Ok rant over.

What i see is that (as mentioned in Ricard's intro video) police is tied by bureaucracy. And its not only police..well-even in schools they are teaching about human rights in very bad manner..
What i'm saying is that children are teached that there is NO1 who can "touch" them-hit 'em or even say something that is making them change they're mind...these jerks cant be stoped by teachers or parents-they take weapons and go for it and now even police have some problems with taking them under control..at least thats how it goes in Europe..

well im not going to re-itarate (sp?) that gangs exist and are a problem. Police are public servants, they serve the public. given the fact that the majority of the public have only an occaisonal need for the police as the majority dont commit and are not victims of crime. so then this leaves a growing minority of criminals + victims. victims dont report crim because the police are tied with red tape, criminals get a slap on the wrist and are simply not arsed.
And so with the red tape the victims dont bother reporting to the police because they see no benefit and fear an escalation in responce to usage of police.

As far as human rights go, defence of the home should allow lethal force by any means. Defence of self against 1 asailant should be allowed to everything but stamping heads into pavement. self defence against more than 1 asailant should allow lethal force depending on circumstance. Lets face it if 1 person starts fighting with you there is a fair chance it will be broken up. if 2 or more people attack you they arnt there to fuck around they are there to smash you until they get what they want either items or your life.

I hate the idea of a knife ban, thats just plain silly. its against the law to kill but it still happens, banning of knifes just means sharpend spoons . I believe that personal morality upholds law and smackheads, kids with things to prove and generally coked up people do not have morality either for a limmited period or permant due to questing for more smack lol.

I think its too late to sort out this problem, short of mass public execution or sedatives in the water supply. Things are truley becoming dangerous and its concerning to think of anyones mum or dad getting the shit kicked/stabbed out of them when they are going to tesco for some bread. Altho i dont think its escalated anywhere near to the degree the daily mail would like us all to believe. (anyone out side the uk, the daily mail is a propaganda/scare mongering/ exagerational rag of a newspaper/comic book)

What does everyone think about harsher sentancing? what do you see as the pro's and con's to this?

harsher sentencing of course but its means locking up alot of people for fair amount of time

so my thoughts are boot camps ,run by the likes of richard grannon and bob spour to put into use discipline,training,nlp techniques to get the best out of them

not just saying this cause its there board ,i mean it there ideal people to be modelled on to run these camps

As I said harsher punishment and prison sentences, so I agree. On that issue, when andy mentioned a type of Boot Camp/tough prison, how about this then. I think its FU****G awesome!!! What you think guys? This what you had in mind andy?

THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO, HE IS THE MARICOPA COUNTY SHERIFF (ARIZONA) AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED. HE RUNS THE LOCAL PRISON.
These are some of the reasons why he is always elected:
1. Sheriff Joe Arpaio created the 'tent city jail' to save Arizona from spending tens of millions of dollars on another expensive prison complex.

2. He has jail meals down to 20 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.

3. He banned smoking and pornographic magazines in the jails, and took away their weightlifting equipment and cut off all but 'G' movies. He says: 'They're in jail to pay a debt to society not to build muscles so they can assault innocent people when they leave.'

4. He started chain gangs to use the inmates to do free work on county and city projects and save taxpayer's money.

5. Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.

6. He took away cable TV until he found out there was a federal court order that required cable TV for jails. So he hooked up the cable TV again but only allows the Disney channel and the weather channel.

7. When asked why the weather channel, he replied: 'So these morons will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs.'

8. He cut off coffee because it has zero nutritional value and is therefore a waste of taxpayer money. When the inmates complained, he told them, 'This isn't the Ritz/Carlton. If you don't like it, don't come back.'

9. He also bought the Newt Gingrich lecture series on US history that he pipes into the jails. When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series that actually tells the truth for a change would be welcome and that it might even explain why 95% of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.

10. With temperatures being even hotter than usual in Phoenix (116 degrees just set a new record for June 2nd 2007), the Associated Press reported: About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed wire surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts.

11. On the Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing pink boxer shorts were overheard chatting in the tents, where temperatures reached 128 degrees. 'This is hell. It feels like we live in a furnace,' said Ernesto Gonzales, an inmate for 2 years with 10 more to go. 'It's inhumane.'

12. Joe Arpaio, who makes his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic. 'Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for parole, only to go out and commit more crimes so they can come back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things many taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.'

13. The same day he told all the inmates who were complaining of the heat in the tents: 'It's between 120 to 130 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they have to walk all day in the sun, wearing full battle gear and get shot at, and they have not committed any crimes, so shut your damned mouths!'

Way to go, Sheriff! If all prisons were like yours there would be a lot less crime and we would not be in the current position of running out of prison spaces. WHY CANT WE DO THAT, FU****G LABOUR HUMAN RIGHTS TWATS!! Sorry........rant over.

In all seriousness I think that is the way all jails should be. No jokes. The way the jails are nowadays why would someone be deterred by being fed 3 meals a day, get to workout in a gym everyday, sit around watching tv and reading books? Sure life in prison isn't all fun and games like that, but for many thugs and criminals it beats life the way it was for them on the street. If all prisons were modelled after Joe Arpaio's in Arizona then I think things would be different. It's not inhumane over there, it's just not comfortable. And that's how it should be. Uncomfortable. Even for the hardest, toughest thugs who normally survive just fine in a normal prison environment. And like the sheriff said, our soldiers live in conditions even harder then those in his prison. Unfortunatelly it's sad that he his one of only a few that follow such a system. In my opinion that's the way to do it. And now, while we can still reverse this gang culture/ thug mentality before it grows to larger proportions.
