Meditations On Violence by Rory Miller, cos I really liked it.

The Gift Of Fear by Gavin DeBecker, excellent & informative on a host of stuff relating to safety from bad people.

& just finished

Wasting Police Time By PC David copperfield, which you can read as a blog online. In my experience, he is not joking about the paperwork How crime is recorded is a right bloody eye opener!

As a companion to the gift of fear. Sanfornd Strong's "strong on defense" is a good one.

"The Fourth Star - Four Generals and the Epic Struggle for Future of the United States Army" by David Cloud and Greg Jaffe

These humble books actually cover a lot of ground. A tempered place to dip a toe into.

This isn't a recommendation...not yet anyway because I've only just started reading this particular book. I picked it up a month or so ago and have just got around to having a butchers. It's called 'Attack Proof' written by the developers of the Guided Chaos self defence system.

I was just curious to know if anyone had heard or has experience of this system. From what I've read so far, I haven't come across anything that makes me think it's a crock. I'll finish the book and post my thoughts on it!

Sent Ritchie a post asking for a review & he thought it was worth getting.

I am currently reading How To Make Friends And Influence People by Dale Carnegie.

Always meant to give it ago & it is surprisingly relevant for SP, the very first chapter talks about predator mindset & criminal behaviour!?!

For a book written in 1938, it loses none of its power for its age. Man, the social animal, is still the same & the desires that drive us haven't changed either.

Think you could do with some help with your social skills? Why not wander down to your local library & pick up a copy.

I like the book, one of me faves on the subject, big influence on me it was

some of what the KCD guys actually DO... Im not as keen on , however I was invited to attend a KCD seminar for free recently, jolly decent of them, and if Id been in the UK I would have gone - some of their sensitivity drills I would like to learn

I'm half way through the book now and have found it extremely interesting.. definitely worth having in your library next to Ritchie's works I think! I was contemplating buying the accompanying DVD's, but as you said Ritchie, I would cherry pick some of the stuff they because I wouldn't be too sure about practising/employing some of what they do. That said, I would like to have the opportunity to physically do them before dismissing them. Their website has plenty of video clips which show you a little what they're about.

its very interesting being able to see how these ppl think and why they do the things they do, these ppl are animals!! extremely violent individuals..classic example of violent intent..these are the types of ppl they make movies about..

another good show to watch is "deadliest men" you can find it on youtube...they interview underground fighters, mercanaries, bank robbers..gangsters..very good stuff...i posted a few up here already..best one ive come across so far is the one about the mercanary..in this documentary u can actually see this man switch into a state of hate and violence within a fraction of a second..i'll post more if i find better movies

I recently read Bartleby Gorman's Biography. Fascinating man. The incident where he nearly lost his leg marked him deeply. But a truly extraordinary bloke. He still might have nicked a fridge out of your garden though.
