Perhaps yours are a little too.....pleasent, less manipulative? My reply was only in jest & I thought the vid was cool. Too be completely honest, I have not heard the verbal CD but I think I can guess why Rich gave those as examples.
The reason why some of these fictious characters came to mind was because on the CD Richie mentioned at one point on that in western civilisation we don't have many characters that celebrate talking and negotiating ways out of problems and I've challenged myself to come up with a few and those ones were the only ones that I've come up with so far everyone is wecome to suggest others.
At the moment I have not started to model anyones
attributes just yet, because I'm working on my own foundations before I start to model the
attributes &
skills of others.
Plus some, if not a lot of people involved in Martial Arts/Combative & outside of what we do probably feel even more anxious about verbal ingagement with their boss, friends, family members, women (no offence to any female members of the forum) and even just standing up for ones self. Basically, I know that I cannot deal with every situation physically, I've come to the conclusion that I may just have a model for different social situations; ie one for work, one for public speaking & presentation, one for just chilling out and socialising; and then the one for confrontation.
Sometimes what people need to remember is that you don't have to model the whole god damme thing, just parts of it.
For example, you can model Robert De Nero's Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver and his Rightious Indignation if you wanted to; but just leave out the social inepitude and mental instablity.
In House, I feel the the deductive skills of the characters, especially House (his deductive abillities & his lack of fear to break the rules when he needs to) might be a really handy attribute to model; but not the way he treats people.
I'm gonna leave this post today with a quote that I'm sure everybody is familiar with.
"Use only that which works, and take it from any place you can find it"
