RBSD for kids Empty
PostSubject: RBSD for kids   RBSD for kids EmptyTue Feb 26, 2008 2:07 pm

This is something I'll want to bend Richies ear about when we meet in april, but I'm interested in peoples opinions on a good programme for teaching RBSD for kids, which we plan to do later in the year.

I think we'll be looking at 10 yrs+
we'll probably be working from a kickboxing base but totally not sport orientated.

any thoughts or advice?

cheers

with kids I would keep it very much combat sport- kickboxing/ grappling and then some awareness and maybe some fence/verbal anti bullying type stuff

deffo nothing on eye gouging, ear biting or any type of aggression work! you just leave yourself wide open

even so when I think about what I would teach my own children I probably wouldnt focus too much on that side of RBSD anyway- even without the worry of legal consequence- cheesy as it sounds, I would say for young ones: self confidence, self respect and awareness are the best forms of defence they can have...

*cringe* Wink

if they grow up strong, fit and wel cororidnated from their combot sport training they will be well ahead of most mugs anyway

I've been using my 7 year old as a guinea pig.
She's punching and kicking lovely after only a few months.

I know what you mean about the really dirty tactics.
I imagine parents getting pretty jumpy about c-grip, eye gouge, biting, etc.
