Hey,

Watch your distance and make sure not to keep your hands too far apart, also keep your elbows near your ribs to jam any grappling attempt (I think you are already doing this?) and lastly keep your shoulders semi shrug up and chin down as discussed on the dvds.

And by the way good power!

By the way I want to stress that videoing yourself training and watching it is a very good thing. As pikeking said he didn't realise he is standing too far away at first. I corrected the habit of slightly dropping my left hand when throwing the right cross by videoing myself, I never realised it untill i watch myself performing it.

So start filming!

Pike, very nice work! My advice would be to focus more on forward motion, replacing yourself where the bag is. Also make sure your initial pre-emptive strike is not telegraphed to the enemy. Good job mate.

Now this I support heavily, and it works wonders to understanding one's own dynamics.

Saw your vid, pike. You've got great power. Not much for me to say that hasn't already been said. You've got your hooks down pat, your footwork for your punches are good. Power comes from ground up, yada yada and all.

Though, there is a split second before you launch you 1st strike (pre-emptive or not) that you leave yourself open. This may not seem like much in a domestic standoff, but against an experienced adversary, that's enough to turn the tide.

Also, maybe you'd like to add more movement or maybe a side approach as it seems like you start to attack with your side that is opposite of your leading leg.

I definitely wouldn't want to receive a knee to the groin from you, though personally I'd execute one only when I'm closer than an arms length.

Last, and not least is the fluidity of movement. It kind of looks like you're hesitating from one move to another. Maybe it's from not hitting the bag after a long time or something, but IMHO, fluidity of attacks should be consistent. Hesitation can cause casualties, that is what I preach.

Please bear in mind that I'm seeing this from my viewpoint. If you get accosted at a club or something and you do the things that you did with the bag, I'm fairly sure that you'll end up on top. Just giving my views, mate. No hard feeling, alright chum?

Cheers.
