when my dad got remarried to his korean wife that was as old as my
sister...it didn't go over well for several reasons:
-he was still married to my mom
-she was old enough for people to think he was her dad
-she came over and behaved badly [bratty]
...well, those were the main reasons
so on our first big outing--a ferry boat ride to ocrakoke, just off
hatterus in the outerbanks [NC]...she noticed that i was feeding
seagulls. i love seagulls--i call them the hoodlums of the bird world.
i was feeding them dried squid. my dad's wife wanted to try this too.
she kept holding out squid, then getting frightened at the last second
and jerking back her arm. i warned her to give it up now if she
couldn't do it. she of course continued to:
-look up laughing
-hold the squid until birds came near
-jerk it away giggling embarassingly
end result was a dirty great dollop of watery poo right in her mouth
...i hadn't yet become the mature and collected choir boy that you
know me to be now...ahem....so i spared no expense to chide.
i asked, "how's the fish soup?"
common, in my defense, i was only, erm...21 years old--just a baby
