how do you steer in space?
if jets need air as something to push against, what do you push against in a vacuum??

how does that kinetic energy create a push effect?
is it by sort of exploding against itself??

Newton's Third Law of Motion.For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction. In a rocket or jet,the gases are ejected in one direction which creates a force which drives the rocket or jet in the opposite direction.
