| Quite cool in a sick way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFGy9B2zOGg (Left thumb gouge takedown in ice hockey fight) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAAfdMC7hzc (Rakes and gouges in football) close up look at the guy who got a shot in the eye https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2s7lFp6-D8E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ewe1t0Od6A (Eye gouge in RioHeroes) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GV34UbjFMY&NR=1 (Basket ball eye jab, although we know afterwards his eye didn't get poked out) Not really a big fan of eye gouges but these vids are still interesting to watch. | |

| Nice collection. Here's a post I put up at another board on the same topic. - Quote :
- It's a common comeback from both MMA and TMA camps. Rich has even had to address it in the Shredder tape. Yet, here is a vid of GSP after UFC 58 (damn I'm using a lot of acronyms), talking about the effect of a finger in the eye he received from BJ Penn. (Hmmm, don't think I would like to be known as BJ. Chuckle, but then again, maybe that just speaks to my insecurity.) But I digress.
From GSP, "I got hit so much because I couldn't see." & "I saw him in double for a good three to three and half minutes. It was crazy." And all this from a poke/gouge that you would not call committed, against, well, obviously one hell of a good fighter. So, lets extrapolate then. If one poke/gouge is capable of this, a Shredder type attack does what? Yes I know the Shredder is not just an eye gouge, but you all get the obvious point.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i1js0V_fG0 Eye gouges aren't guarenteed fight stoppers. Hell, there are enough true accounts of blokes getting shot point blank, at times with a shot gun, and continuing to fight. So a bare handed fight stopper that works everytime? No such thing. But too, to do as some do, particularly some MMA guy's, and say, if they were on the receiving end, that they would just brush it off, is just silly. | |
