| Thought that when the defender got top position (about 0:50), he could have started working some headbutts. Seems like they could have worked some strikes in, but that's hard to do while keeping control of the knife. Don't know if they restricted the drill to grappling only. | |

| Suspect that it was a restricted drill, ran something similar tonight. IF we got control of the knife limb, we mauled the other guy, gouged eyes, jugular notch, clavicle, tongue through under the chin, Philtrum. Of the times I did it, guy rolled over on his front or otherwise let me get up to escape pain. I stamped on his head. (he got a knife, it justified.) Pain compliance seemed good. Otherwise once you have control of the limb, KHTFO!
(incidentally got control at one point by using my chin against his philtrim. He actually screamed. Wuss.)
Do you think sinking your teeth into the knife holding hand and arm would work?

that's what i was thinking--possibly after you put the idea in my head, or i might have been frustrated with the lack of strikes, especially elbows and heads. also possibly reflecting a bias i have as lately i've noticed that if my hands are tied to an act that is remotely grappling-esque, my elbow is usually right there within range to assist so that my hands can keep their positions [more or less]. the other thought i had is that i just might be lousy at this drill because of my intense aversion to being held down. sort of claustraphobic in that way. i'm guessing that if it happened to me for real, i'd be biting and a wee bit off my rocker [with or without the blade]. hmmm, biting...there must have been restrictions.

| Interesting and I bet they each learned from it, even if they only grappled. | |
