Guys
I'm making a promo clip for my SP teaching and I'm looking for good (hopefully free to download) royalty free music that will work well with the training/fight scenes. Anybody know of any particular tracks that sound current and not like something out of an 80's action flick?
Also, what's the worst that can happen if I upload a video to youtube with a mainstream song? I know plenty of decent music, but I believe that if I'm using it to advertise a business then I have to pay royalties
Richie...? You're the movie-making youtube grandmaster... any advice?
Thanking you please very much

Thanks, but I'm gonna try and not use hip hop unless it's lyric-free. I think it's too easy (and maybe kind of cliche' now) to use 'street' music. I'd prefer the music to try and focus on the training and not the threat (if that makes sense)
Also, was hoping for 'unknown' (but good) stuff... I.E royalty-free.
I think I'm probably setting my hopes too high. I just didn't want to use mainstream music for fear of my Youtube account getting shut-down or whatever

Did I hear you say 80's action flick? What you need is this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSX56-P0QkE
Oh, and no martial arts demo would be complete without this 80s gem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPg-CjUGkcM

if you search royalty free music on google you can come up with some ok stuff
if you put stuff on youtube you dont have permission for then they blank the audio and a sign says "this audio track has been removed" or they simply delete your video
I am doing some dubbing for a martial arts movie tomorrow (yes I really am, let the piss taking commence ), the guy who does the sound did the music for this fight scene
do you want me to ask him?

Dubbing? Like this?
Imagine that with a scouse accent!
It would be great if you could ask your friend. Maybe he knows a good website or has some random music loops sitting on his computer? The clip is about 4mins. All I need is a decent beat really. Preferably more up-beat than dramatic. But as long at involves drum-like sounds lol
I've googled it, but most seems to be pants - sounds like something the local DJ made before he went to do a 'gig' at the school disco

or this...[background imperitive: in short, i hope to god some African Americans joined into the production of this spoof as the jokes are so over the top it would dictate in no uncertain terms whether it was funny or not--i assumed this to be the case for what it's worth]

hahaha! coincidentally, I been asked to dub Antonio Fargas (Huggy Bear) in the film, but his voice and accent is I think going to be just too hard, Richard Ng also needs dubbing and I got that first time round, cantonese accent is no problem, 70's ebonics might be too much of a stretch for me
so the lad very kindly did us a track, dont feel obliged to use it but if you do please credit Wayne Dineley

www.myspace.com/waynedineley
he does tracks for video games, films and adverts- very skilled, can make music to ear at the drop of a hat... Im musically totally inept so that proces is like magic to me
here is the track

awesome track...i can see how it would be nice going in the background. kind of a moving meditation--with beats but not too many beats if you catch my drift.

Thanks a lot Richard. I like it. There's a good chance I'll use that one - bit different from what I originally had in my head, but sometimes we have to let go of our original ideas. I'll definitely big your friend up on the vid and put links to his sites.
Shame I'm not closer to Liverpool - I could have done a 70's ebonics accent for you no problem... Ya jive-ass sucka!

Clip should be ready my tomorrow night. I'll use that music, just got to find a way to stretch it out a bit (the clip is longer than the music). Please tell your mate I said thanks.
I'll have the Knife Offence pressure testing clips done by the end of the week too.
