hi all

what is the drive that you have when you wont stop, were if you get knocked down you get back up and carry on. is it a pride thing or a deeper then that? is it pure testing yourself and your limits or is it more, "im not giving them the satisfaction of beating me!".

have you ever found yourself in a comp on the street and have a "carrying-on" moment. even though you may be getting beat on you carry on? i know there will be instances were if you felt your life or safety was/is in danger and you'd carry on to live. but the drive to carry on i think is pure psychological.

i think this clip shows a good equally matched fight were neither guy will give in.

1.good match.

2.my money's on 'agro and ego' as motivation--just plain being incensed with the
feeling larger than 'who-wins'. more like a flirtation with intent to cause pain and
injury rather than caring about lessor things.

3.i've had mild injury be my impetus--and i used to be [when younger] of a mind
not to expect to win but rather to simply be so angry that it paled in comparison
to what i valued. i just wanted to really nail a person and wasn't thinking of metals
and applaus. at that point i really couldn't give a toss.

i think the reason i was so hit or miss with 'sports fighting' is because my focus
changed to trophies. i ended up with over a dozen, but it paled to the numbers my
competitive mates were getting. it was an 'all sport' club that announced who won
that week--with mandatory showings, etc... so as a consequence i was never really
thinking of it as a fight. i grew quite annoyed with it in the end.

nice question scratch

Good question indeed.

I'd have to go in the same vein as Russ on this one.

When I've been knocked down whether it was a sport (like hockey) or in a fight, it pisses me off to no end. I don't know whether this'd be classified as ego or pride etc, but I get extremely angry and well... I'd run through a wall to get to who the culprit.

When i was playing hockey in my teens, I was once speared really hard in the stomach by an opposing player. The wind was knocked out of me and I was down. As soon as I could get a breath back in me i jumped up and skated as fast as i could to the other teams bench to find the guy that did it, he'd just skated off the ice. I jumped over the bench, clearing it, and landed on him. He kind of turtled and before I knew it a bench clearing brawl had ensued. LOL

That's one side of me though, and i think as people we have many sides. I feel kinda bad admitting that stuff and feel like a rage-aholic when I do. On the flip side 90% of the time I'm an easy going guy who laughs as loud as anyone and loves life. flower
