Test based off of Paul Ekman's work on facial expressions: Can you spot fake smiles quiz

I got 16 out of 20...Harder to tell a genuine smile from a fake one than previously thought...difference in the micro expressions

I'm wondering how they elicited these smiles in such a way that they could determine if it was "genuine" or "fake". Did they prompt them to think about something either happy or sad/angry and then tell them to smile? Or did they just tell them to smile with no prompting and then let some computer's facial recognition program tell them if the smile was contracting muscles in the face that indicated if it was "genuine" (unconscious) or "fake" (conscious)?

I got 16/20 as well. What were you using to distinguish between real and fake? I was trying to watch the corner of their eyes to see if they tighten up ( I read that indicates a real smile and they mention it when you get the quiz score) but is there a more blatant give away?

The way they just switch off the smile to go to a completely neutural exspression at the end of the clip struck me as hilarious.

The only thing political leaders are good for is learning body language from them.
