...whoever he is--from an article, but i didn't want to rip off his 'points'. they're sound, they're what most of us
think about and at least on some level agree on or we wouldn't be here:
"The 4 Reasons Why RBSF Is The FASTEST Route To Overcome Your Fear Of Fighting
Reason #1 - You Get The "Adrenaline Rush" Experience - One of the first things that you experience in a real street fight if you are not used to it is the overpowering of the adrenaline rush. This is when your body goes into the "fight or flight" response. This is the body's natural reaction to make it more efficient for action. The problem arises when you "panic" upon feeling this reaction in an attempt to "make it go away".
When you are not used to the adrenaline dump and thus overreact to it, you exacerbate the situation by producing unnecessary amounts of adrenaline to handle not just the actual physical threat, but now also the "fear of the adrenaline rush" itself. This is the case of fearing "the fear reaction". You are adding another layer of self-created stress to the already critical situation such that the adrenal hormone epinephrine produces more than you can handle which may cause your heartbeat to accelerate too high and cause you to either freeze or faint. This is not the idea that the body has in mind when it releases adrenaline for you.
Conversely, do you know that some people get so used to this "rush" until they begin to enjoy it and even seek it out? What else do you think would be the motivation of the Mixed Martial Arts fighter other than he's now "addicted" to the "rush" of the fight.
Reason #2 - You Get To Respond To Surprise Un-Rehearsed Attacks - No pre-choreographed fighting movements or katas here with Reality-Based Fight Training. With RBSD, you counter any surprise attacks with resourceful skill and spontaneity - just like it is in real life.
Reason #3 - You Get To "Validate" The Effectiveness Of Your Training - What validation means is this - let's say that you are practicing gun disarming. Well, how do you know that you dodged or evaded the bullet? In Reality-Based Fight Training, you are shot at with an "air soft" pistol that discharges a plastic orange pellet. If you get hit, your technique didn't work. If you don't get hit, then you know your technique was done properly. Your technique has been "validated".
Validated training creates confidence and eliminates fear very quickly because now you know that your technique will work in the real world.
Reason #4 - You Get Used To Real-world Scenarios And Environments - When you train in mock alley-ways, crowed, enclosed rooms with lots of furniture and narrow stairways, you will become familiar with the real fight experience and the fear to fight for real rapidly disappears with just a few days of intensive practice.
